What's in a name?

Naming our beers was one of the trickier tasks we came up against when designing our branding. There are so many craft beer legends out there with super creative, clever and witty names. After thinking long and hard and after lots of puns and plays on words (mostly from co-founder John) we realised that we may have been trying to be something we’re not.
Now that’s not to say we aren’t creative, clever or witty…we just forgot that starting the Copper Beech Brewing company was a very personal journey. Each beer has been brewed from the heart with a memory attached and we didn’t want to keep it all to ourselves so we thought what better way to share them with you? Read on to find out how your beer got its name.

Method in the Madness

Collaborations with other local businesses are one of our favourite things to do, so we jumped at the opportunity to work with our local coffee roastery Method - a must visit if you're a coffee lover.

Back in February, Brewer Dan and partners Sam and Patch joined Mark and Tre over at Method for a morning of 'coffee cupping' to choose the perfect complimentary blend for our Breakfast Stout.

Their blend 'Mexico La Mazateca' was chosen for its fruit-forward nature, a perfect match to compliment the bready, marmalade qualities of our chosen Chavelier malt.

We steeped the beans in cold water for 12 hours to gently extract their flavour before blending the cold brew into the fermented beer to produce a wonderfully balanced dark beer, rich in flavour, with that bold coffee aroma you would expect from such a process!
