What's in a name?

Naming our beers was one of the trickier tasks we came up against when designing our branding. There are so many craft beer legends out there with super creative, clever and witty names. After thinking long and hard and after lots of puns and plays on words (mostly from co-founder John) we realised that we may have been trying to be something we’re not.
Now that’s not to say we aren’t creative, clever or witty…we just forgot that starting the Copper Beech Brewing company was a very personal journey. Each beer has been brewed from the heart with a memory attached and we didn’t want to keep it all to ourselves so we thought what better way to share them with you? Read on to find out how your beer got its name.

Tread the Path

The Brewery turned 5 years old in January 2026. To mark this incredible milestone we created 5 birthday beers! Each beer is a collaboration with some of the most integral people in the Copper Beech journey, right from its inception to where we are now.

When Dan was starting out he spent a lot of time gathering information. There’s no doubt that there’s a lot of elements to starting any sort of business, and many of them can only be learned by talking to those in the industry who have already trodden the path!

You can often reach out to people and get no response - we more than understand why, most people already have a workload they can barely keep on top of - but Mark from Horsforth was a constant support to Dan, always taking the time to answer his many questions and share advice, encouragement and information despite running a very busy and successful brewery himself. He was truly integral in getting Copper Beech up and running.
